Election Day, November 3, 2009, is rapidly approaching and WINDSOR DEMOCRATS are actively moving on the campaign trail.
Barts was the location for the Fall Fundraiser where a packed house got to enjoy some delicacies (Spaghetti) not usually found on the Barts daily menu. Food, fun, friends and a chat or two about politics made up the entire October 12, menu as the Democrats worked to raise funds for the 2009 Campaign.

Among the visitors was Attorney General Dick Blumenthal who came to give Windsor greetings, offer local election campaign encouragement and updates on pending state issues.
CHILI CHALLENGE
Windsor democrats, led by Chili Challenge Captain, Town Councilman Bill Herzfeld, put in a good effort in the competition to win Chili Contest prizes and say hi to all of Windsor’s voters who stopped by to sample chili and find out what the Dem Team has to offer for the next 2 years.

Herzfeld’s effort brought in a 3rd place prize for the People’s Choice Award. Councilman Matt Marci helped in the serving and cardboard cutout Obama welcomed the visitors to the Dems booth.
Windsor’s Chili Challenge filled the Town Green with a good crowd of townspeople, chili-samplers, politicians and fair-weather friends. In the crowd, along with candidates for local office, were candidates with higher aspirations.
Linda McMahon, Republican Candidate for US Senate, was making the rounds on the Green. Leo Canty – Windsor Dems Town Chair, looking to add a photo to his collection of “Professionals Wrestling Their Way Into Politics” found a photo op with McMahon and got the shot.

Of course, for full disclosure purposes Canty told McMahon he was the Dem Town Chair, welcomed her to Windsor, a great Democratic Town, and politely said ” I’m a huge fan of Chris Dodd and I’ll never vote for you but can I have a picture.” McMahon said “sure” and suggested Canty work on making smarter choices when it came to choosing a candidate for Senate. Canty responded that’s all he does is make smart choices for Senators and that’s why he is supporting Dodd.
In that magic, happy, chuckling, instant, McMahon’s photog captured the moment and showed the world that D’s and R’s can get along, and have a few laughs – even as opponents on a nice autum day.
- And that’s the photo that found it’s way to the McMahon web site. http://www.flickr.com/photos/LindaMcMahon

After the jovial Kodak moment ended, Canty’s only regret was that he forgot to ask her for a contribution to the DEM’s campaign…. She seems to like dems – go figure.
( we’ll see how long the photo lasts on website)
